Tomorrow I start a short composer residency at the Arizona State University School of Music where conductor Stuart Sims and the ASU Wind Symphony perform Symphony No. 1, My Hands Are a City as a lecture-recital entitled "The 21st Century Symphony".

De Profundis premiered brilliantly at the 2010 Central Oklahoma Band Directors Honor Band Festival last weekend at the University of Oklahoma, under the direction of Dr. Jeffrey Gershman (audio now online). And The Vinyl Six is now available on CD or internet download, on The Avian Orchestra's new release, Fantastic Music for a Fabulous Time!

Tonight I leave for Cincinnati, for the James Logan Wind Symphony premiere of Symphony No. 1, My Hands Are a City at the 2009 WASBE Conference at the College-Conservatory of Music. The amazing JLWS is conducted by Ramiro Barrera. I'll also be taking part in WASBE's inaugural mentoring program, as Resident Mentor Composer.

My residency at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music is in full swing, with rehearsals for the World Premiere of SYMPHONY NO. 1, My Hands Are a City, the North American Premiere of Climbing Parnassus, and Avenue X. Conductors Stephen W. Pratt, Jeffrey Gershman, and Paul Popiel lead their ensembles in the concert Thursday night

Tomorrow I begin an exciting residency at Millersville University in Pennsylvania (my home state), where after lectures and lessons and rehearsals I will lead the wind ensemble and concert band in Uncle Sid, Moon by Night, Avenue X, and As the scent of spring rain... in a Newman-thon concert on Friday.

Early this year I was offered a fellowship at The MacDowell Colony, so tomorrow I leave for my two-week residency, where I will work full-time on my opera project, a collaboration with playwright Gary Winter.

Last weekend, a fun guest conductor residency at Carthage College in Kenosha WI, culminating in a big concert where I performed an all-BCM program with the Lakeside Band Festival and the Carthage College Wind Orchestra

Today in three spots across the country, three performances of wind ensemble pieces: As the scent of spring rain... in Boston with the Boston University Wind Ensemble, The Rivers of Bowery with the Drury Wind Ensemble in Springfield MO, and a guest residency performance of The Rivers of Bowery and Avenue X in Bellingham WA with the Western Washington University Wind Symphony.
